It Is Time to Let Go of the Past and Move Forward

Proof Text: Isaiah 43:18–19

Tell Somebody: “It Is My Turn for God to Turn Things Around!”

There comes a time in life when you must make a decision to let go of the past and move forward. Your past may contain pain, disappointment, mistakes, rejection, or difficult experiences, but God does not want you to remain there.

The Lord says in Isaiah 43:18–19:

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”

I want to tell somebody today: when God’s appointed time comes for you to move forward, nobody can stop you.

Put the Past Behind You

Whatever is behind you is something you have already passed through. You may have suffered, cried, struggled, or experienced disappointment, but you are still standing today because God brought you through it.

Do not allow yesterday’s pain to control tomorrow’s possibilities.

How many of you have been waiting for God to do a new thing?

If you are expecting something new, you must be willing to release the old. You cannot continue holding tightly to yesterday while asking God to take you into tomorrow.

People may look at your past and use it to judge you, but God looks at your new beginning. People may remember who you used to be, but God knows who He is preparing you to become.

Stop Dwelling on Yesterday

When you continually dwell on painful experiences from your past, you can reopen old wounds and bring sadness back into your life.

Look ahead.

You cannot successfully move forward while constantly looking backwards. There are greater things ahead of you, and you need faith to step into them.

When you release the past and trust God with your future, His grace will give you the strength to move forward.

God Looks at the Heart

God is not simply looking at your outward appearance. He sees your heart, your faith, your potential, and the purpose He has placed within you.

When God has ordained something for your life, no human being has the final authority to cancel His purpose for you.

Your past does not have to determine your future.

Your mistakes do not have to become your identity.

Your disappointments do not have to become your destination.

Protect Your New Beginning

Be careful of people who constantly remind you of the person you used to be and refuse to recognise what God is doing in your life today.

Your past is your past.

Learn from it, grow from it, and allow God to use those experiences to make you stronger—but do not live there anymore.

God says, “See, I am doing a new thing!”

Therefore, lift up your head, strengthen your faith, and move forward. The road behind you has already been travelled. God has something new ahead of you.

Declaration

It is my turn for God to turn things around!

I will not allow my past to hold me back.

I will not allow yesterday’s pain to destroy tomorrow’s blessing.

I am moving forward by the grace of God.

God is doing a new thing in my life, and no one can stop what He has ordained for me.

My past is behind me. My eyes are on God. My future is ahead of me. I am moving forward in Jesus’ name. Amen.
